New Music: E Major – The Look of Love Pt. 3

10 years later and there is a still an emptiness in Hip Hop where J Dilla’s sound and soul once resided. The culture and the music and the artists that he inspired all miss him dearly. I of course, include myself in that group. This is my little way of honoring him. I got my brother Doug Mattingly on guitar, Alex Koch on keys and synth bass and my homie DJ MadOne and created this track based on the incredible Look of Love from the J 88 days. I hope you all enjoy.

Forever Shinin’ – Baltimore’s 2012 J Dilla Tribute

Guilty Simpson Rockin’ Forever Shinin’ by Kelly Connelly

Over the weekend Baltimore had it’s annual J Dilla tribute, Forever Shinin’. They appropriately had Guilty Simpson as the headliner. This is the first Dilla Tribute they had since I moved to L.A. and I’m sad that I couldn’t be there. From the looks of things though, it was a great party and celebration of the late great producer/emcee.  For more photos check out Kelly Connelly’s Flickr.

E Major and Sean Armstrong – Fantasy feat. Cynthia Hawkes

Now I’m not usually one to toot my own horn, but for real, if you haven’t downloaded the tribute to J Dilla that myself and Sean Armstrong put together called LOUDER!, you’re sleeping!  I keep listening to it and remain proud of what we did as an homage to my favorite producer of all time and my number one inspiration in music.  This track here is definitely one of my favorites from the project.  Cynthia Hawkes came through with the hook and simply made the song what it is.  She really did a great job of making it a track that can really grab you.  Check it out and let me know your thoughts!
