It’s been a busy few weeks! It seems like filmmaknig is taking up more of my time nowadays than music but I’ve been loving it. Our film “Hit the Hitman” was selected to be a part of the Hollywood Comedy Short Film Festival so we went to attend the screening a few weeks back. It was really dope to see the film with strangers and to see it on the big screen at the famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

After that we rolled right into shooting our second short film which was written by my father (pictured center) and we’ve been shooting that the past two weekends. It’s coming together really nicely and I can’t wait to get the editing process and start putting the pieces together. I’m learning so much each time we get out and shoot and it’s just been a really great experience to do that with my family.

Hit the Hitman is in Post Production!

Just a little update on our short film. I’ve been really busy so I haven’t had a lot of time to post, so a lot has happened! We wrapped principal photography two weekends ago and I couldn’t be happier with how things came out. I learned quickly that no matter how much you plan (an believe me, I planned thoroughly) once you’re on set, there are factors that you have to deal with that can derail those plans quickly. Luckily I had a great team of folks that helped me to still get what I wanted and a group of actors that knew their stuff and were still able to roll with what I was throwing at them on set.

A Little Update

I’ve really been slacking on posting to the blog and I apologize. I have new music recorded and this is actually the first year since 2008 that I haven’t released an album or a mixtape, but I’ve been working overtime on getting my first short film made. If you haven’t been keeping track, it’s called Hit the Hitman. The above video is from a couple of weeks ago, right after we made out Kickstarter goal.

Making a movie, even a short film is really fucking involved. You have to plan and pick out everything, from the dishes to the music and everything in between. It is possible to just show up someplace and start shooting, but the type of film I want to make which involves creating a world unto itself, means that I have to look at and make a call on the smallest thing, like should we get a costume hemmed or what kind of lighting should we have for the scene. It’s kind of crazy but I’ve actually really been enjoying it.

Lets Make a Movie!

Read more about the Kickstarter and help us make Hit the Hitman!

A lot of rappers love to say “we make movies!” but I’m ready to do just that. Most, if not all of you on this email list are subscribed because you are a fan of my music or another artist on Under Sound Music. This will be my first major endeavor into making a short film and I want it to be a project that I share with my fans, friends and family!

Our film is called Hit the Hitman. It’s kind of a dark comedy that I wrote after I read an article online titled “Man Hires Hitman to Kill Hitman Hired to Kill His Wife.” What I thought the article was about was actually wrong but was actually pretty funny so I wrote a short script    and    shared it with my brother who got on board as the lead character. I’d tell you more of the plot but this is one of those things where if I tell much more then I give it away!

Watch: Hilton Carter’s New Short Film, “VICTOR”

VICTOR from Hilton Carter on Vimeo.

While the homie Hilton Carter has been gearing up to shoot his next picture “One Last Run,” he decided he’d keep busy by shooting a short film. That film is VICTOR and you can watch it right now!  It’s the story of  a struggling comedian as he fights writers block while staying at a hotel in between gigs. As he’s the easily distracted type, Victor finds himself sidetracked by everything from some time with the ladies to getting high with a suicidal cat (which I voiced BTW).
