New Album: Sean Armstrong – “Truth Be Told”

We’ve covered the leaks, we had an exclusive interview and now the album is here.  So given our in depth coverage I won’t say much more.  I’ll just say that I think Sean put together a really solid effort hear and though it’s called a mixtape, “Truth Be Told” is more like a street album (?) because it’s 100% original music.  Each track is produced by Dischoe who gives Sean a soulful sound scape to lay his vocals on.  Continuing the familial vibe, Sean only features me (E Major), Ab Rock, PX’s Jurawd and Sean’s old partner in rhyme Black Classic, as well as some soulful hooks sung by Ben Byrd and Measha.  As usual though, don’t take my word for DOWNLOAD IT HERE.

Once you become known as a DJ how do one transition from behind the decks to the front of the stage without everyone calling you a rapping DJ? Kanye successfully became an MC after being known solely as a producer but has there ever been a DJ that successfully holds down the tables and the mic?  Considering that MCing was created by DJ’s bragging and boasting over their mixes, you would think there would be more of this happening.  Sean Armstrong also known as DJ Face, one of the DJ’s in 9th Wonder‘s respected True School DJ crew, appears to be one of the few that has the skill to do both with admirable skill.

New Music: Sean Armstrong – “Amigo Rap” feat. E Major and Ab Rock

The release of Sean Armstrong (AKA DJ Face)’s new mixtape Truth Be Told is next week and as we gear up for that release we have another leak to share with you.  This one features myself as well as another Baltimore MC named Ab Rock.  Sean’s gotten a lot of good feedback so far on his music and hopefully this will be no different.  As with all the tracks from Truth Be Told this is produced by Dischoe and it has a really great soulful vibe and some Premier style cuts for the hook.  If I wasn’t on it, I’d probably big this track up even more but in the spirit of keeping it humble I’ll let you listen, download and decide for yourself.  Please feel free to leave us a comment with your thoughts.
