New Music: Cynthia Hawkes Freestyles

Free Music, Hip Hop No Comments

Those of you that follow Under Sound and/or E Major have probably heard the name Cynthia Hawkes.  She’s been a part of Majority Rules and The Major Major Mixtape and has been on some our fans’ favorite songs.  E Major’s “Feature Presentation” featured Cynthia and is currently getting spins on Baltimore’s #1 Hip Hop show Strictly Hip Hop.

Cynthia is ready to be heard on her own and we think that everyone will agree that she’s more then just an amazing singer of hooks and a dope guest MC, but she’s a well rounded and super talented artist in her own right.

Oh you want proof?  Well check out the attached freestyles that have her going in over an 8 Ball and MJG beat as well as Rihanna’s “So Hard.”  You can hear from these two examples that she’s comfortable spitting on any beat.  Any beat that’s dope at least.

Video: Jahpan – “Better Than Before”

Hip Hop, Videos 2 Comments

This is a new joint from my homie Jahpan who, as you may know, is a Rhode Island representative operating out of sunny LA.  This piece was directed and edited by our other good friends, the Brother Guidera, Garrett who did the same duties on the “Paper Runnin’” video and Evan who is also part of FRESH KILL.

There’s so much about this video I like.  In particular, as a bit of a typophile, I love the text at the beginning and how it’s integrated into the shots that it’s overlaid on, with the smoke coming in front of the text and the text moving slightly with the camera movements.  I also really like the scenery change in the 3rd verse. The nondescript background with the bokeh lights is really cool and the colors are really nice.

From Jap’s An Album Called Life, available now.

I’m not a video critic though, so check it out and let me know what YOU think.

We’ve been dropping singles left and right for the last couple of months, we put out a video last week and now UllNevaNo’s The Color Brown mixtape is here.

The tape presented by Under Sound Music, Rock the Dub and Agio Lifestyle, is mixed by Harvey Dent and features myself, as well as Mic Brown, Tislam The Great, Richard Wright and Mic Wilson. I really like how Harvey mixed this joint.
