Video: Jahpan – “Better Than Before”

Hip Hop, Videos 2 Comments

This is a new joint from my homie Jahpan who, as you may know, is a Rhode Island representative operating out of sunny LA.  This piece was directed and edited by our other good friends, the Brother Guidera, Garrett who did the same duties on the “Paper Runnin’” video and Evan who is also part of FRESH KILL.

There’s so much about this video I like.  In particular, as a bit of a typophile, I love the text at the beginning and how it’s integrated into the shots that it’s overlaid on, with the smoke coming in front of the text and the text moving slightly with the camera movements.  I also really like the scenery change in the 3rd verse. The nondescript background with the bokeh lights is really cool and the colors are really nice.

From Jap’s An Album Called Life, available now.

I’m not a video critic though, so check it out and let me know what YOU think.

We’ve been dropping singles left and right for the last couple of months, we put out a video last week and now UllNevaNo’s The Color Brown mixtape is here.

The tape presented by Under Sound Music, Rock the Dub and Agio Lifestyle, is mixed by Harvey Dent and features myself, as well as Mic Brown, Tislam The Great, Richard Wright and Mic Wilson. I really like how Harvey mixed this joint.

Download here and let us know what you think.

I hadn’t listened to The Major Major Mixtape in a couple of months but over the weekend I pulled it up on the iPod and road around to it a bit.  This song really sticks out to me every time.  My homegirl and collaborator on many songs, Cynthia Hawkes took what I had come up with for a hook and really made it work.  The beat is by an old friend Rex who hasn’t been really making beats that much recently but he really came up with something dope with this and when he sent it I said “I am definitely using this.”  Anyway, check it out if you haven’t heard it and if you have, then revisit it.

New Music: Mario Dones – “Pastries”

Free Music, Hip Hop 1 Comment

Logged into our email account this morning to find this little gem waiting for me. We’ve posted some music from Mario Dones before so you might remember him.  He’s got a great voice for rapping and gets some dope production.  This joint is off of his upcoming one To Grow On project dropping mid-August on Solevibe.  Once again he picks a pretty dope beat, this time produced by Nice Rec.  I really like how during the hook it gets real almost big band jazzy.  It’s smoothed out without putting you to sleep.

Peep it below and leave a comment.

The Demonstrators’ “Paper Runnin’ Booman Remix” on ABC.com

DJ Impulse, E Major, Featured, Hip Hop, Under Sound, Videos No Comments

This week The Demonstrators hit song, “Paper Runnin’ Booman Remix” was featured on an episode of a show on ABC.com.  Navigating the current music environment is tricky and getting a song featured on something as widespread as an ABC series can be really good for gaining more exposure for our label.  So when we our friend Hilton Carter was editing for this series and asked if we wanted the song featured there was really no hesitation.  This feature will get “Paper Runnin’” and pure Baltimore Club music for that matter, heard by many ears that most likely would not have heard of either previously.

So check the song at the 1:30 mark of the video at this link and if you’re interested in supporting Under Sound and want to buy both the original version AND the Booman Remix, please visit this link.

Thanks!
