Rome Cee is back with more good music. “Gone” is the type of track that works perfectly for Rome’s style; smooth piano keys matched with energetic rhythms. I particularly like the synth that introduces the 3rd verse. Rome matches the production with his earnest approach to lyrics. He soars on the chorus, lifted by staccato strings and gets grounded on the verses where he spits lines like “I been shinin’ on with no worries/ grindin’ all through the flurries/ the beginnin’ of the year had that time capsule buried.” Rome’s at his best when he’s painting pictures like that.
Expect tons of new music from Rome soon. He has an EP with fellow Baltimore artist Greenspan entitled CEE-SPAN, due next month and a solo LP coming later this year entitled Black Gold Standard.
